Requirement specifications and user needs were incorporated into a series of sketches and then tested on a range of function models in both the drawing office and the workshop. The construction – with one or two wheels at the front – necessitated the development of a new brake, which the subsupplier started work on early in the process.
After developing a range of sketch models, a favourite construction was selected and an actual function model could be built.
After total development time that topped 30 months, a finished design could be patented, ensuring that the product is protected against copy products for the next 15 years.
Parallel with product development, in collaboration with the customer 3PART developed the marketing concept and product name – which, like the company's other products, bears the name of an animal: Cheetah.
