3PART design i/s was founded in 1998 by industrial designers MDD Simon Skafdrup and Henning Therkelsen, and turned into 3PART industrial design ApS in 2001.

Two new companies 3PART media and 3PART development were both founded in 2000/2001, with communication designers MAA MDD Allan Flamand and B. Sc. M.E. Development Engineer Ole Madsbøll as partners.

In 2003 all 3 companies were merged into one company: 3PART A/S, with Jørgen Bruhn, former Senior Vice President of International Product Development in the LEGO Company A/S and Ole Brøkner, former Manager of HR in NOVO NORDISK A/S as members of the board.
